Claremont House is significant on many levels, including architectural, archaeological, scientific and social. The original four bedroom house was constructed in 1830 and was named Claremont House after Princess Charlottes home in Suffolk, England. Successive owners has carried out additions and structural changes to the property and in 1889, Claremont House was set on 734 acres of land with numerous outbuildings and was one of the most valuable propertys in Hobart.
