Grand and royal indeed!
+ This used to be the house of Lillie Langtry, mistress of King Edward VII as the various rooms downstairs still show. It looks very grand indeed. The bedroom was not though but modern, clean and functional, which was reflected in the price. There was a good choice for breakfast and efficient service. But the main advantage of this hotel is its location in a safe and quiet street right next to Hyde Park and Queensway.

Poor service, save your money.
+ Location is fantastic right outside Hyde Park, nearby Underground stations make it super easy to get around. We stayed on the 7th floor for three nights in a room that was absolutely tiny and would only suit 2 people for one night. There was no room to unpack our bags, desk was tiny and cluttered. Bed was comfortable and room was nicely serviced each day. Bathroom and shower decent but shower door was tiny, hard not to flood the bathroom when taking a shower. Most shocking was the full on hole in the window in the actual glass itself. Air-con in the room was great and was left on before we arrived. Room and public areas were clean and well kept. No noise during day or night.
Service was severely lacking. Two lovely girls at the check in desk the day we arrived. Breakfast staff were also very pleasant and breakfast was decent full buffet. There was a lady however on our second evening complaining about her room at the front desk and the receptionist couldn’t have seemed to care less.

A Mixed Bag
+ I’ll start with the positives. The location was great for us. Very close to both Bayswater and Queensway tube stations and only a minute from Kensington Palace Gardens. The outside of the building, lobby and lounge areas were stunning and every member of staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The shower was also warm and powerful and we appreciated the fresh drinking water provided in the lobby and in the rooms.
But this is not a 4* hotel. We had a standard double room booked and it wasn’t the best. We had to be moved after our first night because the air con wasn’t working and it was very hot. Apparently they had a known fault so I’m not sure why we were placed in this room to begin with but the staff were very accommodating with moving us. Both rooms we stayed in were tiny, we could barely get around the bed in the first room. Both rooms also had extremely small beds, the second room especially. This was a small double at best and my husband and I struggled to get comforta

Avoid at all costs. Worst hotel I've ever visited.
+ DO NOT STAY HERE! This hotel is such a scam! Air conditioning not working during summer. Lied to us about getting it repaired. Elevators not working. Room so small, I could not open my suitcase. Bathroom dirty. Window opened about 3 inches. We would have slept better on a bench in Hyde Park. Staff was unhelpful. No ice machine. Requested a refund and was refused. So we ended up paying for TWO hotels for six nights in London because we left after one night. BEYOND AWFUL!

+ The old building was beautiful. Friendly enough staff but maybe not enough of them at times.
− Tap was too big for sink and athrooms quite cramped. No usb post on sockets. Breakfast wasn't the best and no toast. Very busy in the morning with not enough staff on to cope.
