Noisy bedroom ruined sleep
+ Very very disappointing stay at the Gem Fitzrovia. While the hotel was perfectly fine, this was the worst overnight noise experience for many years. The room we were given in LG was an absolute shocker with noise from trains, people, slamming doors and even washing machines at 1am. The bedroom was more of a sleep deprivation chamber.
On checkout, the receptionist asked me if everything had been okay to which I said the hotel is fine but the room should not be used as a bedroom in the future. I fully explained why in reasonable tones, and all I got back was a nod and a reply of “thank you for letting us know” - he couldn’t have been less interested. There was no attempt to address the situation or rectify my now low opinion of the hotel. Don’t ask the question if you have no process to handle negative replies.
It is unlikely I will seek to stay here again and I really cannot recommend it.

Improvements needed, will not be returning!
+ Great location, working lift, staff will help if asked.
− Pictures are a bit misleading — room is dated and wasn’t cleaned well during our stay. Eg our dirty towels were not replaced and were folded & placed back which wasn’t great, the bathtub still had hair in it & they didn’t clean rubbish that we left in the room. Had to call downstairs to prompt them to do so. Even though the hotel offers free filtered water, this wasn’t told to us upfront and we had to keep calling to ask vs them just placing a fresh bottle in our room. Same goes for complimentary toothbrush etc.
The carpeted floors felt dusty and unclean, and our key card kept being faulty so we’d need to keep going down to ask for fresh cards.
There was no attention to detail or service, and we were left alone to struggle carrying up our luggage up a flight of stairs as the entrance doesn’t have a ramp. You don’t really feel cared for or like it’s a room you’d want to come back to after a long day out. There are plenty of better hotels in a similiar location and this was not worth

Preisleistung im Hotel ??? OK, Preise in London sind sowieso hoch. London ansonsten immer super!
− Zimmer war deutlich kleiner als es den Eindruck auf der Foto machte. Es fehlen Aufhängemöglichkeiten für Jacken,Mäntel ausserhalb des Schrankes. Fussweg zur nächsten Metro ca. 10 min. mit Koffern ist anstrengend.
Bedienung im TV-Raum, Bar unaufmerksam. Man wird nicht nach einem Getränke gefragt, sondern muss dies anscheinend selber an der Bar holen. Bin ich von einem Hotel dieser Preisklasse nicht gewohnt!
